Speech or Hearing Assistance
If individuals would like to contact Gina by email or phone (908) 453-4381 regarding accessibility and accommodations, please use the relay service at 711.
- 711 Relay Service is a TTY-based Telecommunications Relay Service that permits a person with hearing or speech disabilities to use the telephone system via a text telephone (TTY) or other device that is used to call persons with or without such disabilities.
- 711 Relay Service does not work for Video Relay Service (VRS), Internet Protocol Relay (IP Relay), or IP Captioned Telephone Service (IP CTS) calls because such calls are initiated through the Internet, nor does it work for Captioned Telephone Service (CTS).
More information regarding 711 Relay Services.
If additional ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accommodations are required, all requests must be submitted in writing at least two (2) weeks prior to the programming event and we will do our best to accommodate. Parking & Access Information
Shippen Manor's driveways are still having work done. Until the work is complete, the driveways and back parking will be closed to vehicles.
Once the driveway reopens, please remember that it is one-way only (enter at top, exit on the lower drive).
Please drive slowly and cautiously and always yield to pedestrians.
Regular Museum Days (1-4pm)-- see map below
If driveway is still closed for construction, there is very limited parking (including 2 handicap parking spaces closest to the boardwalk) near Belvidere Ave. by the upper drive entrance. First come-first serve. If you do not have a handicap tag, plate or placard, please leave two parking spaces open for those who need it.
Please be aware of signage that limits or restricts parking in town, and to not block residential or business driveways/accesses. There is no shoulder on either side of Belvidere Ave., please do not park along side of road as it is a safety issue for pedestrians and drivers.- Washington Ave. (past stone Methodist Church/Furnace)-- 1-3 blocks away
- Kent Street Parking (across from Oxford Central School)-- 2 blocks away
- Wall Street (2-hour limit along grass)- bottom of the hill in the town center, 1 block away
Once the back parking is reopened, visitors are permitted to park there. There will be limited parking spaces. Please do not block the driveway or parked vehicles.
Reenactment Days (11am-4pm) & History Trail Day (10am-4pm)-- see map below
During our longer museum days where we have outside programming (Rev War & Civil War Days) , the drives and back parking are closed to vehicles to make this a "pedestrian-safe zone".
Please be aware of signage that limits or restricts parking in town, and to not block residential or business driveways/accesses. There is no shoulder on either side of Belvidere Ave., please do not park along side of road as it is a safety issue for pedestrians and drivers.
- Washington Ave. (past stone Methodist Church/Furnace)-- 1-3 blocks away
- Kent Street Parking (across from Oxford Central School)-- 2 blocks away
- Wall Street (2-hour limit along grass)
Parking Map reflects availability on-site for when our driveways and back parking are open.
Park Rules
Shippen Manor is a part of the Warren County Parks System. We adhere to all of the rules & regulations set forth by the County.
Our walls are delicate and fragile due to age and in order to avoid any potential injuries to you or damage to the site, we ask that visitors (children in particular) not climb, walk, sit, or jump off of any of our walls. (This also includes the old stone stairs on our neighbors' property near the Belvidere Ave. parking area and the ruins in the woods.) We are a "pack-out" site. We do not have any public trash receptacles on site. Please do not leave any refuse or discarded items behind. Thank you for helping to keep our site clean. Shippen Manor is a part of the Warren County Parks System and therefore the site itself is open daily for visitors to walk around (open at dawn; close at dusk). The museum is only open on the days and times listed for our programming schedule, on the 1st and 2nd Sundays from May to December (unless cancelled). The only animals permitted inside County buildings are licensed service animals, which, as defined by the ADA are, "dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities." All other pets will have to remain outside and leashed with a responsible adult attending to them. Please clean up after all pets. Updated April 2026. Exterior Border & Driveway Walls
