CHPP 2025 Grant Report Available.

The County History Partnership Program (CHPP) was created in 2015 by the New Jersey Historical Commission (NJHC) to extend the administration of local re-granting programs to all of New Jersey's 21 counties.  This program enables the NJHC to support existing and emerging local history organizations and other eligible non-profit organizations providing New Jersey history projects, programs, and services to benefit diverse public audiences.

The Division of Cultural & Heritage Affairs (WCCHA) is the agency officially designated in Warren County to apply for, receive and administer grant funds from the NJHC for this program. Grant funds will be awarded through a formal competitive application/independent peer review panel process to support eligible local history organizations and other non-profit organizations within Warren County that provide public New Jersey history projects, programs, and services to benefit diverse public audiences.

CHPP 2026 GRANT

In 2026, there will be some changes to this grant. Formerly, it was only a Special Project grant. If your organization meets the eligibility, it can apply for one grant from Warren Co. and the other from the New Jersey Historic Commission.

The Guidelines (CHPP-G 26) and Application (CHPP-A 26) can be found in the Grant Documents box. Applicants can only apply for one of the two grants.

The descriptions, requirements, eligible and ineligible expenses, and eligible organizations can be found in the 2026 Guidelines.

GOS grant requires a match for monies over $2501 (see guidelines for graduated matches).
Special Project grant does not require a match and are requests for up to $3,500.

The New Jersey Historic Commission is requiring all regrant organizations to have or be in the process of completing the following:

  • ADA Plan/Policy

  • Long-term Preservation Plan

  • Disaster Preparedness Plan

When organizations apply, please only provide the pages from the CHPP 2026 application that correspond with your particular grant.

Updated 9/25: The NJHC has determined that it is an ineligible expense for a re-grant organization to create or install a marker for the Black History Trail. The legislation that established the Black Heritage Trail states that public funds cannot be used to "erect markers or signs on private property." The same rule applies to the NJ State Historical Marker 250th Initiative (NJSA 18a:73-25.5-8 and NJSA 18A:73-25.9-10). Markers installed on public sites will be paid for by the NJHC.
