Museum & Explore Warren History Trail

EXPLORE WARREN HISTORY TRAIL
MUSEUM & MORE!

History Trail logo

Shippen Manor is one of several sites participating during History Trail weekend. The sites are split between two days (Nov 1 & 2, 2025).

Shippen is open from 10am to 4pm, rain or shine.

Oxford is one of the original townships that predated the separation of Warren from Sussex County in 1825.  The village of Oxford Furnace was the county's first hub of commercial activity and population growth following the construction of the furnace in 1741.

To celebrate the participation of our Henry-Scranton families and other men relative to the site during the Civil War, we will have history displays and artifact exhibits. The museum will be offering self-guided tours with docents available in the museum if you have questions.

The Co. F, 27th NJ (Baileys Boys) will be joining us and will be situated on our lower porch and lower drive. If the weather is good, they will have firing demonstrations between 12pm and 3:30pm.

The Colonial United Methodist Church of Oxford, which is in the former grist mill, will be open for tours from 12pm to 4pm. (Church services are open and welcoming to anyone who would like to participate.) They will also be serving soups in their lower level (Washington Ave. entrance).

____

Limited on-site parking (including two designated handicap parking spaces closest to the boardwalk). Our driveway and back parking will be closed to all vehicles for the day.

Off-site parking (Washington Ave., past the church and Kent Street lot). Wall Street (closer to Route 31) has time limited parking restrictions.

Please do not block the driveway entrance or exit or block in cars. For your safety and the safety of others, please do not park along Belvidere Avenue as it does not have a shoulder.

Family friendly.
Free admission.
Donations accepted by Friends of Shippen.
